Millenia ago, a Yatagarasu was born in the Sun. However, this hatchling showed potenial, massive potential that it gained the attention of one of the highest deities, Amaterasu. The all powerful Sun Goddess raised the hatchling and named it Soma. Soma was training under Amaterasu's supervision to become a successor of sorts, a Sun God that acts as a substitute if Amaterasu is not present.
Soma's duty was determined during the late 1400s, descend to Hell and manage the flames to stop any vengeful spirits or demons interested in controlling the flames and destroy the surface.

Soma did this for thousands of years, until the year 2020 where technology has advanced in Hell. The Yatagarasu was met with his one job lost to a giant temperature controller that reached the utmost bottom of Hell. There was no need for a Sun God to stay down there.

Soma contacted Amaterasu, where she was shocked to hear about such advancements and told the young God to do whatever he chooses, he has the freedom to do so now. The decision: Go to the Surface World and learn of the technology that even a God lost to.

Now, the Yatagarasu lives in the Surface, engrossed by video games and livestreaming and learned more about the technology. Though, something felt off, why did the Great Amaterasu let a divine spirit idly stay in the Surface World? Little did he know, there was a deeper reason for being let into the Surface and he is yet to find out.
